- Are my employees or contractors at risk of a fall?
- Am I exposing my company to unnecessary fines?

When is fall protection required?
Most jurisdictions require the use of specific fall protection measures before, or in addition to, personal protective equipment (PPE). Some of the following are commonly used as part of these measures:
- Fixed barriers
- Surface opening protection
- Warning barriers/control zones
- Fall or travel restraint systems
- Fall containment system
- Fall arrest systems
When a worker is at risk of falling more than 3 metres, most workplace health and safety standards require action. Fall protection is usually required when:
- Other fall safety options, such as guardrails, are not available or feasible.
- Working at a height of 3 metres or more.
- Working at a height of less than 3 metres when the surface below could cause greater injury.
- A worker may fall through an opening in the work surface.
