SOLUTION
A series of fully integrated overhead crane and runway systems were installed to support critical stages of the transformer manufacturing process. The systems enable safe, controlled, and precise lifting of large cores, tanks, and assemblies, improving workflow efficiency, protecting high-value components, and supporting consistent production quality, all while maintaining a strong focus on worker safety and regulatory compliance.
This crane system was designed and installed for a growing fabrication and welding operation in Southwestern Ontario. The customer required a material handling solution that would improve workflow, increase productivity, and enhance safety while handling large fabricated components throughout the manufacturing process.
The solution included a 10-ton capacity crane and runway system, featuring two 5-ton overhead cranes with a 55′-0″ span and a 120′-0″ free-standing runway system. To accommodate the existing building constraints, coped bridge girders were provided to maximize lifting height and make the most of the available vertical space.

The new crane system allows operators to move materials more efficiently between workstations, reduces reliance on forklifts and manual handling methods, and provides full coverage throughout the work area.
