Forklift Operator Refresher Summary

A combination of theory and practical skills assessment, this course can be conducted for up to eight operators in one day at your location. The theory portion takes approximately four hours, and includes a written test. The practical skills assessment portion takes 30 minutes per participant, during which the operator must demonstrate pre-shift inspection, good control of equipment, proper load handling at all levels, awareness of pedestrians and obstacles, and appropriate re-fuelling/re-charging procedures. A practical skills assessment must be performed on each class of truck that the employee is required to operate.

New Operator Training Summary

A combination of theory and practical skills assessment, this course is an in-depth training course that covers applicable legislation from the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Industrial Regulations, and includes a written test. Ministry of Labour guidelines and the CSA dictate that the theory session must be eight hours in duration. The agenda is the same as the refresher session, but more time is taken to cover and clearly explain the information. After an operator has gained a minimum of eight hours practical experience, he or she will be given a practical skills assessment to ensure they meet the requirements and skill demands of their environment.

Aerial Work Platform Summary

Aerial work platform training sessions include a theory and practical skills assessment conducted on the same day, at the customer’s location, for up to 12 operators. The theory portion runs approximately four hours, and includes a written test. The practical skills assessment takes 15 minutes per participant, during which the operator must demonstrate proper inspection, donning and size adjustment of harness and lanyard. The operator must also pass a skills assessment on the platform, including area hazard assessment, control of the platform and working at elevation.

Overhead Crane Operator Summary

The overhead crane training session includes a theory presentation and practical skills assessment. It can be conducted on the same day, at the customer’s location, for up to 12 operators. The theory portion runs approximately four hours, and includes a written test. The practical skills assessment takes 15 minutes per participant, during which the operator must demonstrate pre-shift inspection, good control of equipment, proper rigging techniques, and awareness of pedestrians and obstacles. NOTE: All agendas are suggested, and may be adjusted due to operator skill requirements, multiple types of equipment, or special customer requirements.
